From bike to desk: stylish accessories for the urban commuter

Anyone who rides a bike to work every day knows the problem well: most cycling accessories are designed for sport, not for everyday life. Overly technical bags, bulky locks, lights that look like they belong on a construction site.

In recent years, several brands have started tackling the problem from the opposite direction, starting from urban design rather than sports design: waterproof bags smart enough for a meeting, locks that integrate into the frame without ruining its lines, minimal lighting systems that only draw attention when needed.

Commuting as a design category in its own right

It’s a product category gaining its own identity: no longer just “bike accessories”, but objects designed to accompany anyone who lives city life on two wheels every day, with the same aesthetic care you’d give a backpack or a wallet.

The implicit message is clear: riding to work shouldn’t mean giving up on style, or showing up at the office dressed for a race.
